La Chamaerops Humilis, chiamata anche Palma di San Pietro, è l'unica palma spontanea d'Europa. Può raggiungere tra i 2 ed i 3 metri d'altezza; di solito ha fusti plurimi, con foglie a ventaglio di colore verde scuro. In primavera-estate sviluppa fiori gialli in pannocchie lunghe, cui seguono frutti verdi lucidi grossi come olive.
Detta anche Palma Nana, la Chamaerops Humilis è un arbusto rustico sempreverde che resiste alle basse temperature (-15). Questa pianta è adatta anche in ambienti con clima marino e non ha esigenze particolari per esposizione e terreno. Adatta a potature frequenti per tutto il periodo vegetativo.
